I spend a ton of time on Goodreads, so I decided to answer this tag after seeing it on a few different blogs.
What was the last book you marked as ‘read’?
The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne: I recently reviewed this as well. It’s the epic life story of a gay, adopted man from Ireland named Cyril. It explores the Irish Catholic Church, family, homophobia and sexism, violence, and love. It was definitely one of the best books I’ve read this year.
What are you currently reading?
Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion
The famous collection of short stories. I’m liking this even better than The White Album, which I read a few months ago.
Girl In Snow by Danya Kukafka
This book is just…okay. Though it’s a murder mystery it’s quite dull.
What was the last book you marked as ‘TBR’?
The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson
I’ve heard so many great things about this memoir.
What book do you plan to read next?
The Graybar Hotel: Stories by Curtis Dawkins
I’ve been meaning to read this for a while. It’s a collection of true stories based on the author’s stay in prison. It’s been getting great reviews, so I’m excited to begin reading.
Do you use the star rating system?
Yes, although I wish it was easier to use half stars.
Are you doing a 2017 Reading Challenge?
Yes, my goal is to read 80 books or more.
Do you have a wishlist?
I have a wishlist for books on Amazon. It’s much shorter than my tbr on Goodreads.
What book do you plan to buy next?
I probably won’t buy this for a while because I have so many books already. However, the paperback edition is coming out soon so that will save me a few dollars.

“I’m sick of not having the courage to be an absolute nobody.”- Franny and Zooey, JD Salinger
“Stop worrying about your identity and concern yourself with the people you care about, ideas that matter to you, beliefs you can stand by, tickets you can run on. Intelligent humans make those choices with their brain and hearts and they make them alone. The world does not deliver meaning to you. You have to make it meaningful…and decide what you want and need and must do. It’s a tough, unimaginably lonely and complicated way to be in the world. But that’s the deal: you have to live; you can’t live by slogans, dead ideas, clichés, or national flags. Finding an identity is easy. It’s the easy way out.”
― Zadie Smith,
“What is the meaning of life? That was all- a simple question; one that tended to close in on one with years, the great revelation had never come. The great revelation perhaps never did come. Instead, there were little daily miracles, illuminations, matches struck unexpectedly in the dark; here was one.”
― Virginia Woolf,
“So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or only for hours, nobody can say.”
― Virginia Woolf,
Who are your favorite authors?
Virginia Woolf, Zadie Smith, Jhumpa Lahiri, Gillian Flynn, Cormac McCarthy, Elena Ferrante, Donna Tartt, Junot Diaz, Khaled Hosseini
